The NBA is investigating the Sixers for tampering. And for salary cap circumvention.
Word came out last night that the NBA was opening an investigation into the Philadelphia 76ers for the possibility of tampering in their free agency deals, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
There are two aspects to Woj's report which are worth separating apart, since historically they have generated drastically different penalties from the league: tampering and salary cap circumvention.
The first part of Woj's report talked about the sort of garden variety "early contact" infractions which we would call tampering.
